Texas Cook’Em Draws Cooks From Across The State

Over 70 competitive cooking teams from throughout the state of Texas gathered at Ebony Hill’s Golf Course on Saturday, July 2, 2022, to compete at the 16th Annual Texas Cook’Em: High Steaks In Edinburg. 

The barbecue competition was sanctioned by Champions Barbecue Alliance and the Steak Cookoff Association. Texas Cook’Em awarded $25,000 in prize money. This year’s winner of the H-E-B Steak Challenge was Nacho BBQ – Nick Soto of Brownsville, TX.

Soto walked away with over $1,500 in prize money and a golden ticket that will give him entry to the World Championship Steak Cook-Off in Fort Worth, TX.

The annual cook-off also included free family entertainment courtesy of Texas National Bank, the Bert Ogden Car & Truck Show,  the H-E-B Stars & Stripes Firework Show, 5×5 Freedom Jump, and a free concert by Los Palominos.

Over 6,000 locals attended the celebration throughout the day.
