Edinburg Chamber Offers 25 Small Businesses Free COVID-19 Rapid Testing Kits

EDINBURG, Texas – The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce will be providing an additional 25 small businesses with rapid COVID-19 testing kits. The kits are provided under the program from the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).

The Edinburg Chamber was one of the initial six participating in the pilot program in the State of Texas. The chamber began to distribute the free self-administered testing kits for frontline employees in December 2020. TDEM has since opened the program to all chambers in the State of Texas.

“I am glad the Governor’s office and TDEM have expanded the program. Local businesses have saved time and money which helps support business operations while keeping the public and their employees safe. We know vaccine distribution is not available to all, however, this is a great resource to continue to have to help slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Ronnie Larralde, Executive Director at the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce.

Participants must complete an online training in order to receive a kit. Each kit contains 40 self-administered tests.

The Chamber will replenish a business kit once they are 70% complete. At this completion rate, the tests can be issued to the same or new business.

To receive testing kits please contact the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce at (956) 383-4974.
