Before taking the following steps please try these practices to avoid inconveniences. 

If you have found a lost pet in your neighborhood make sure to ask neighbors first! They may be able to help you identify its home quickly.

It is common to find kittens please do not assume they are abandoned or move them mom may return.

If you have found a lost pet please take the following steps:

1. Look for identification tags (dog tags ect.)
2. Take your pet to your nearest veterinary clinic or OMW Home microchip station to find an identification microchip.
3. If a microchip is detected it is up to the rescuer to contact the pet owner and communicate pick-up/drop-off arrangements.
4. If no microchip is detected please try sharing on social media pages: RGV Lost & Found, RGV Lost Cats, someone may be looking for their loved furry friend.
5. If the pet owner is unable to be contacted within 24 hours please contact Palm  Valley Animal Shelter at (956) 686-1141

OMW Home Microchip Scanning stations are NOT drop-off locations for found animals or unwanted animals. Abandonment of a pet at locations can lead to a fine of up to $4,000 ( a Class A misdemeanor)
