  Edinburg Centennial 1908-2008
Edinburg celebrated a Centennial October 6-10 with various events as the Chamber of Commerce cooped with the City of Edinburg, the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, DAR, the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Museum of South Texas History. The Chamber held an authentic Ribbon Cutting ceremony starring a very large and loud locomotive!!!
  Texas Cook'em 2008!!!
The 3rd Annual Texas Cook’em: High Steaks in Edinburg is excited to announce the big winners for the 3rd Annual steak and barbeque cook off that occurred on Friday, July 4th, 2008.
“I’d like to take this time to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers, including the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library for organizing the fun children’s area. Our headliner for the 3rd annual event was John Conlee, who brought in a great crowd during sun down. Cook’em attracted serious cooks from across Texas (60 participants), the food was great and featured over 400 pounds of T-Bone Steak, yet despite rain fall, the event went on full force, awarding ,000 in prize money. We are exceedingly grateful for all the community support and thankful to those who took part in making Cook’em a grand 4th of July event for the city of Edinburg” notes Cris Torres, Chairman for the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce.
Cook’em is exceedingly grateful to the City of Edinburg, the Economic Development Corporation, Inter National Bank, Memorial Funeral Home, The Monitor, The Edinburg Review, South Texas Concrete, Coca Cola, and L&F Distributors for financial support and services.

Edinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and Edinburg Chamber of Commerce held a Business Expo for the month of May, where hotels, restaurants, newspapers, local businesses and organizations gathered together at the Edinburg Activity Center to showcase what Edinburg has to offer. Among the many door prizes, and booth giveaways, the Expo also had special guest, Deejay Johnny Joe, and speaker Joanne Murphy Life and Career Coach.

The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is exceedingly grateful to all of the exhibitors who took time out of their busy schedules to support the community of Edinburg.
